Mr. Donovan Keith was born, April 11, 1955 to the late Louis Edward Bunn, Sr. and Lizzie Allen Bunn, Sr. at Whitaker Memorial Hospital in Newport News, Virginia. Keith nick named his self “Baby Brother Keith”, in part because he is the youngest of four brothers but also because he liked playing on his own terms. He now leaves one Brother; and three Sisters. He has been a husband, father to two sons, an uncle and grand-uncle, as well as a grandfather. He attended Newport News Public School and Hampton City Public School Systems. Upon completing the eleventh grade at Bethel High School, he withdrew and voluntarily enlisted into the U. S. Army. During his entire tour of duty in the European theatre he earned his G.E.D., was a Green Beret, and became a licensed HVAC Technician. At the end of his tour of duty he received an Honorable Discharge.
Throughout the following decades, he would be employed at the Newport News Shipbuilding & Dry Dock Co. (now Huntington Ingalls, Inc.). Subsequently was employed with the Hampton City Public School System. He then acquired employment at Hampton University within the HVAC Department. He later underwent training for Plumbing and earned a Journeyman Certification in Plumbing. Donovan retired from Hampton University Maintenance Department after twenty five years.
He married Angie Tobias Bunn, Sr. and to this union a son Donovan Keith Bunn, Jr. was born. Afterward, he married (his FeFe - Love of his Life) Felicia Bell Bunn, Sr. Donovan was preceded in death by his parents Louis E. and Lizzie A. Bunn, Sr.; his Brothers Louis E. Bunn, Jr.; and Danard W. Bunn, Sr.; and his Son Donovan Keith Bunn, Jr. He leaves to cherish his memory, his Son Kendall S. Anderson, his Wife Felicia B. Bunn, Sr., Brother Hayes C. Robinson, Jr., (Sandra); three Sisters Dr. Pamela B. Butts, (Bob), Lisha J. B. Synaker (Chris), RoseMarie L. Bunn; Sister-in-Law Linda C. Bunn, Jr.; one paternal Aunt Dr. Geraldine B. Hopson. In addition, Ms. Taryn Whickliffe, mother to his granddaughter Kharma Whickliffe; Ms. Shalaycious Newsome, mother to his two grandsons Samuel Newsome and Zaheem Newsome. Closest friend Mr. Jody Lane, his veterans Buddies Brother-in-Law Deacon Chris Synaker and Mr. Thomas Campbell, Jr., also partners Curls and Kenny. He also leaves a host of Nieces, Nephews, and other endeared veteran friends, family members near and far.
Our family extends sincere gratitude to Keith’s Nurses and Staff: Ms. Gwenetta Peck, CNA (faithful friend and confidant); Ms. Taryn Whickliffe, CNA; Ms. Audrienne Edwards, PCA; Nurse “Coach”; and Barber “Big” Darby. Special thanks to the Staff at Saint Mary’s Hospital – ICU.“ Of all the Gifts in Life however great or small; to have our Lil Brother “Keith” was indeed a unique and adventurous journey. In our hearts your life is kept to Love and remember, not to forget. No more tomorrows we can share, but yesterdays we can reflect on your humor, your jokes, your pranks, your Love for your family and our shared laughter are always there…We love and miss you “Lil Baby Brother”. ..Rest in Paradise ~
