Mr. Donnie Moore Obituary

Donnie Linwood Moore came into this world on August 23, 1953, to Ernest “Bucky “ and Elretta Moore. He graduated in 1971 from Ahoskie High School in Ahoskie, North Carolina. Donnie went on to attend Shaw University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in communication in 1975. During his time at Shaw, Donnie DJ’d at a local radio station. After his time in college and as a DJ, Donnie went on to join the US Marines in 1981, where he went on to serve four years. After completing his time in the military, Donnie moved to Newport News, VA, where he became a plant operator at Hampton Roads Sanitation District. Shortly after Donnie met Camillia McClellan, they raised their two children, Leilani and Lee. Donnie went on to work for thirty-five years at HRSD, where he retired in 2015.

After retirement, Donnie enjoyed taking trips to North Carolina, sitting on the porch admiring nature, and most of all spending time with his grandchildren, where he was best known as “Papa”. Donnie was nothing short of amazing to his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Elretta Moore; his grandson, Troy A.Randall; his brothers, General "Frog" Moore, Rev. Ernest Moore Jr, Thomas Moore, Otis Moore, and Linwood Moore.
