Mr. David Cruz Sr.,

Mr. David Cruz, artist, and author, transitioned February 15, 2025 at his home in Jacksonville Florida. David was born in Philadelphia, PA June 4, 1980, to late Juan Cruz and Lizette Torres. He went through Philly public schools until his family moved  to Virginia where he obtained his GED in 2001.

 In 1998, meeting through a mutual friend, he was smitten by Renata Hall and they had their first child David Cruz Jr in 2002, followed by their second Nadiana Cruz in 2004.

 David went on to hold a position at the Newport News shipyard and the Norfolk Shipyard for years until he was led to Jacksonville Florida’s shipyard in 2020. 

In 2023, after years of consideration, David published his first book, under alias Manny Morales, and was able to push through being an introvert and finally live his dream. Since publishing his book, David ventured into modeling, acting, and creating art pieces for all to enjoy.

David’s life was far from perfect but he never stopped working to improve it. He always put his best foot forward and tried to learn from his mistakes. He was a loving father, son, brother, uncle, coworker, and friend and he will be dearly missed by all he encountered.
His lessons, love, and legacy are cherished by his two children, David and Nadiana Cruz. Along with his mother, Lizette Torres. His brothers, Josue and Gabriel Cruz and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, a Godson, sister-in-law and friends. He is preceded in death by his father Juan (John) Cruz, grandfathers, Angel Torres and Juan Cruz Sr.

 David Cruz will always be remembered for the authenticity and creativity he brought to this world. The time we had was not enough but we have faith that we will see him again.
