Mr. Darius Raymond Chatman was called home to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, April 27, 2025. A lifelong resident of Newport News, Virginia, Darius attended Warwick High School.
Darius was preceded in death by his loving sister, Yolonda Chatman; his stepfather, Kenneth Woods; his maternal grandmother, Mable Chatman; his paternal grandfather,Willie Chatman and his paternal grandfather’s wife, Shirley Chatman, all of Newport News.
Darius leaves to cherish his memory two beloved sons, Darien Chatman and Kevin Johnson; one grandson, Azair Johnson; his devoted mother, Jacqueline Woods; his father, Robert Bowen; his brother, David Riddick, all of Newport News; and his sister-in-law, Jasman Riddick.
He is also survived by seven aunts Patricia Chatman, Mable Anderson, Valerie Johnson, Mary Sedwick-Holmes, Arlene Avent, Demestrise White, and Sirata Fox. Three uncles, Kelvin Johnson, Julius Johnson, and James Jones.
Two cousins, Cornelius “Lucky” Turner and Patricia Rios, held a special place in his heart. He also leaves behind five nephews, one niece, and a host of other loving relativesand friends. His passing is deeply mourned by his significant other, Stacy Johnson-Campbell, as well as by close friends Steve Reed, Candi Rhodes, and Ernestine Horton.
It is the desire of the Chatman / Woods families that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
