Mr. Clinton Beverley, Jr. Obituary

Mr. Clinton Clifton Beverley, Jr., 74, affectionately known as “Pops” died Tuesday, May 19, 2020 of natural causes at Williamsburg Hospice House, Williamsburg, Virginia.  He was born in Essex County, Virginia on February 20, 1946. He attended New Rochelle public school system. Clinton retired from the city of New Rochelle in New York as a Heavy Equipment Operator. Clinton later moved to Georgia in 1997 before moving back to Virginia in 2019. He was a member of New Macedonia Baptist Church, Riverdale, Georgia. He deeply loved all of his family. He had a serious side as well as a humorous side, which is a characteristic of all of the Beverley family. Clinton would regularly repeat what his dad once told him. He said, “one day a man was walking through the woods and he came upon a skeleton head. The head spoke, saying “if it wasn’t for my tongue I wouldn’t be here”! He would also sing a song, imitating a dog at the end. “Hound Dog barking up a Summer Tree” woof woof! He was also a huge fan of the WWE. He admired the “Rock” just as much as he loved the smell of “what Rene was cooking”! Clinton loved The Gospel and it’s music. “You Can’t Run You Can’t Hide” was one of his favorites. So put a bridle on your tongues. Words can cut like a sword and kill the soul. The sad thing is, you may or may not live to regret what you said. So be kind, showing love to one another from the core of your heart. Tomorrow is truly not promised. The recent pandemic has proven this to many people.

Clinton was preceded in death by his parents Clinton and Margaret Beverley, his brothers William “Frank” Beverley and James “Alfred” Beverley, his sisters Mary Ida Beverley and Pearline Beverley, Bettyann Hogan, and Louise (Hollyanne) Keemer as well as his first granddaughter Camille Beverley.

Clinton leaves his wife and friend Rene` of 40+ years to cherish his memories, also a sister Sarah “Elizabeth” Hall of New York, a brother Charles “Ervin” Beverley of New York, his daughter ClyShonda Beverley of New Jersey, a son Clinton “Sam” Beverley of New Jersey, daughter Christina (LaKeisha) Beverley of New Jersey.
