Charles aka “Slow Roll” was well known in downtown Newport News. He was educated in the public school system there and attended his beloved Huntington Middle School and Ferguson High School. He was a maintenance and factory worker by trade. Charles could fix anything and if he couldn’t, he knew someone that could. He taught his children how to fish and crab, repair bikes and cars, and who their people are. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and spoiling them with endless sweets! He could be seen riding his bike or walking all over downtown. Charles never met a beer he didn’t like and would often stop by, check on his friends and family and enjoy a cold one. He knew everyone and everyone knew him. He was a giving, kind soul full of wisdom and advice.
The family would like to thank the staff of both Sentara and Riversides hospitals for their unwavering support and dedication. All his caretakers and people who ran errands for him. You helped us in so many ways, and we are forever grateful.
It is the desire of the Solomon and Tyler families that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
The family of Mr. Charles Edward Solomon has entrusted his final care to C. C. Carter Funeral Home.
