Mr. Charles Curtis “Camshaft” Sexton (61 years) went into eternal rest surrounded by family Wednesday, November 10, 2021.
Charles was born January 8, 1960 in Williamsburg, VA to the late Joseph H. Sexton & Josephine Blayton. He was raised by Joseph Sexton and adopted mother, Susie Mae Sexton. He was the second oldest of four children. He attended Hampton City Public School System. After graduating, he joined the United States Marine Corps where he served for 2 years. After the marines, he joined the workforce as an avid truck driver until his passing. During his truck-driving career, he earned the “Camshaft” handle.
Charles married his lovely and devoted wife, Vanessa Hill on September 1, 1982. They were married for 39 years and were together for 43 years. Charles and Vanessa started their lives together in Hampton, VA and later moved to Williamsburg, VA. From their union, they have three sons.
Charles accepted the Lord as his Savior at an early age and became a member of Queen’s Street Baptist Church, Hampton, Virginia under the leadership of Pastor Clary. Later in his walk with Christ, he joined Bethel Restoration Center under the leadership of Apostle John N. & Lady LaVerne Gray. Charles was a strong, kind, loving and supportive man and will be dearly missed he met.
Charles was also the best grill master ever!!! At every family function, you could always find Charles smokin’ and grillin’. He used to say that if there is no love it, it does not taste good. If he wasn’t smokin’ and grillin’ you could find him either talking about the goodness of the Lord, playing with dog, Whiz, or watching his favorite football team, the Carolina Panthers.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents (Joseph & Susie Sexton). He is survived by his devoted wife of 39 years, Vanessa. His loving children Ramon (Elsie) Sexton, Antione (Amina, fiancé) Sexton, Shamonte “Duke” Sexton, Nicole Foster (Thaddeus) and their granddaughter/daughter Ramariona “B girl” Clyburn. One brother, Howard Goodwin (Sharon). Two sisters, Shaun Blayton and Stacey Ingraham (Richard). His Uncle Harold Manley, mother-in-law, Dornella Whiting, 12 grandchildren, a host and of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Viewing for Mr. sexton will be held Friday, November, 19, 2021 from 9:00a.m. until 11:00a.m at which time services for Mr. Sexton will commence at 11:00a.m. at Bethel Restoration Center. 6205 Richmond Road Williamsburg, Virginia 23188 by Apostle John N. Gray
(Military honors will be held at the church on Friday,November, 19, 2021)
Interment will be held a at a later date at Albert G. Horton Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk, VA.
