Mr. Brandon Jamar Barnes affectionately known to the Barnes family as “Craig”, entered into eternal life on April 14, 2021. Brandon was a senior taking honors classes at Lake Taylor High School in Norfolk, VA. As a young boy Brandon was a lover of sports and began showcasing his athletic abilities throughout middle school and high school playing football, basketball and wrestling. Brandon loved science and aspired to work with N.A.S.A. on some level, but truly aspired to be the best he could be and rank #1 above all his siblings, constantly letting them know his position, even though he was the baby boy. Brandon was so excited when he became employed with Jimmy John’s. With such dedication to his job,
It did not take long for him to be promoted to Assistant Manager. His commitment and work ethic earned him a “star” award from his General Manager. Brandon also enjoyed playing his Xbox into the wee hours of the morning with his gaming community. Brandon was an avid fisherman and crabber, however he never quite brought the fish and crabs home, but would bless his fellow fisherman with them instead; only to come home empty-handed and tell his mom he wanted fried fish and crabs for dinner. We will truly miss his “stoic” mannerisms and “quirky” sense of humor…
He was preceded in death by his paternal great-grandmother Betty Knight, maternal grandmother Carrolle Brown, maternal grandfather, Carroll Tabb; his bonus father, Yannick Ngalli-Marsala.
Brandon leaves to cherish his precious memories, his mother Andrea Washington, his father Corey Barnes (Zenea), his grandparents, Edward and Mildred Barnes and Paul Brown; his three brothers: Bobby Graves, Jr., Mark Smith, Jr., and Ty’Jhay Barnes; two sisters: Jasmine Washington and Zoey Barnes; three uncles: James Washington, Randy Arrington, Alphonso Cowling; five aunts: Annette Tyler, Angela Washington, Tiffany Bethea, Shalonda Barnes, Alliyah Miller; two nieces Nevaeh Graves, Casey Wilson; two nephews Elijah Hines, Markel Smith; and a host of great aunts, great uncles, cousins and other loving relatives and friends.

Interment will follow at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church Cemetery, Barhamsville, VA.
