Mr. Andre Isaiah Mosley son of Mr. Leroy Mosley and Mrs. Vera Smith Mosley transitioned on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at Riverside Regional Medical Center, in Newport News, Virginia.
On December 18th 1995 GOD Blessed Leroy and me with two of the most wonderful and handsome boys that have ever walked the earth, well to me anyway. Andre Isaiah and Andrew Michael Mosley. Our sons brought so much joy and light into our lives but GOD in his infinite wisdom decided to call my oldest son home to be with Him. During his brief illness we prayed GOD would take care of him and we know that he is resting in the Savior’s arms.
I know it is hard for people to understand how I can still smile and joke when my baby is gone and I understand that on the outside it looks strange, but I know that to be absent from the body is to be the present with the Lord. My son has touched so many lives and he has left lasting memories with us as well. I would love to share a few with you, if you don’t mind.
From birth, this little scrawny, boney, big headed boy fooled us. He plumped up so quickly that we were so happy when pampers introduced size 6 back in the day. Andre was such an easy child to parent. Quiet, kind, gentle and quick to help. (He’s more like his dad). He was such a vibrant spirit. Andre “IZZY” to his friends, loved hanging out with “The Squad”. He enjoyed hopping on his PlayStation 4 (The one he finally earned enough money to buy on his own) to play Grand Theft Auto: Online” as well as the “Call of Duty” series.
Andre was an entertaining young man. I’d like to take a minute to share one story with you. In 2014 we decided to embark on our first family cruise with the boys’ and their god parents Howard and Shirlyne Heard, god-sisters Tesia and Elizabeth and god-mother Pecora Richardson as well as a special brother Jonathan Taylor as a graduation gift. We asked Andre not to drink the apple juice but he didn’t listen. Andre had the runs all-the-way to Florida? First person out of the car at the rest stop each time. (I can hear him now, “Mom, really, you telling that?” Yes, son, I love you!
Andre was a very inspirational and determined young man. For those of you who don’t know my baby, Andre lost an entire person, no really, he lost 140 lbs. and he did it in only 8 months. I lost 7 lbs. in the last four days, probably temporary though. Andre set his mind to this task and he did not stop until he accomplished his goal. We were as proud of him as he was of himself. I will miss the little things like fussing at you about cleaning your room, or cleaning the bathroom. We will miss many things about Andre like his presence, his smile and his cheer.
I know my baby had a personal relationship with Jesus. Last Friday, believing I would die before him, I asked if I would see him again. He said, “Of course. I love the Lord Jesus!” Right before his procedure, holding hands with Leroy, he prayed to God to forgive his sins and to heal his body. Our hearts are saddened but our spirits rejoice in knowing that he has eternal life.
We are left to mourn you till we join you, Leroy your loving father, Vera your adoring mother, Andrew “Drezwy” your younger brother, Renard Mosley your older brother, God-momma/Grandmother Pecora Richardson, your special Uncle and Aunt Terry (Judy Diane) Smith, Uncles and Aunts Lionel(Alice) Lesure, Ray Lesure, Cleo (Donna) Mosley, Joenathan Mosley, Donell Lucas, Johnny (Cristi) Johnson, and Eddie Lucas. His favorite cousins living in VA, Randy (Linnea) Smith and TJ (Ashley) Smith. He had god-parents and their children who are just like an Uncle, Aunt and cousins: Howard, Shirlyne, Tesia and Elizabeth Heard. god- momma Ethel Durden and god- daddy Jack Durden and a host of loved ones in Mississippi, Indiana, and Chicago.
