Min. Sheila Edwards

OBITUARY

Min. Sheila Renea Edwards was the daughter of the late James and Bessie Edwards. She was born on September 17, 1951, in Newport News, VA and departed life on September 11, 2023. She accepted Christ at an early age and rededicated her life to Christ at Tabernacle Baptist Church East End Inc. on May3, 2015, and was ordained as a Minister on December 15, 2019. Minister Sheila was an active and faithful member.

She graduated from Huntington High School in 1969, completed the Office of Economic Opportunity (OEO) Clerical Training and received an associate degree in hospitality management from Tidewater Community College. Her work history varied from management to being firsthand. She was employed at National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Kentucky Fried Chicken as a Manager and Fort Magruder in Williamsburg, VA. Sheila is an Air Force veteran. 

Her love for her family was exceptional and could only be matched by their love for her. She was known to be a stylish dresser and a lover of music. She enjoyed reading and studying the word of God, making family and others laugh. Being the youngest of her siblings, she would make sure that they treated her as the youngest with all the benefits that came with it. Next to “Falling in Love with Jesus,” family and church ministries, she was a Dallas Cowboy fan. She was a jokester, but when it came to her Cowboys, it was not a laughing matter, win or lose.

She is survived in love and life by her siblings: Linda Burden and Jacqueline Golden (Arthur), Sister-in-Law Francine Edwards and Goddaughter Cherquetta LeBron-Weaver. She is also greatly loved by a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents; brothers, Roger Edwards and James L. Edwards; sisters, Gloria Jeane Edwardsand Vickie Edwards.

The family will of Min. Sheila Edwards  has entrusted her  final care to the staff of C. C. Carter Funeral Home, Inc.
