Evangelist Carolyn Gamboa Holter, departed this life on December 31, 2024, leaving an indelible mark on everyone blessed to know her.
Born on October 31,1958 to the late Samuel and Lucille Haynesworth, Carolyn was raised in a household where love and faith flourished. Her life was a reflection of her unwavering commitment to God, her family, and her community. Known as a prayer warrior, Carolyn had a gift for speaking God’s word with power and conviction, often moving entire rooms to praise and worship. Her love for the Lord was the foundation of her life, and she joyfully served Him in every way possible.
Carolyn was reared in Christianity at Gospel Light United Holiness Church, where she was later ordained in ministry. Her commitment to spreading the Word of God was unwavering, and her ministry touched the lives of countless people.
As a young woman, Carolyn founded Total Victory Ministries out of her deep passion for serving the Lord, praying for the sick, and helping her community. What began as a ministry dedicated to service and healing later grew into a church, Total Victory Ministries UHC, where she preached God’s word and continued to inspire others to live in faith and love.
Carolyn’s faith was not just spoken but lived. Through her foundation, the Gamboa Holter Foundation, she dedicated herself to ministry, never hesitating to extend a hand to those in need. She housed and fed the homeless, often opening her home to complete strangers. Her ministry extended to a heartfelt coat drive, ensuring that countless children stayed warm each winter. When her family faced difficulties, Carolyn answered the call, taking in nine of her nieces and nephews and raising them with love and care. Her life was marked by sacrifice, service, and a profound love for God’s people.
In 2009, Carolyn achieved a lifelong goal of returning to school to earn her high school diploma, a testament to her resilience and determination. She also authored a book, Catch Hope, in which she chronicled her life’s journey, including the many struggles she overcame. Among the inspiring stories in her book was her account of raising her nieces and nephews while caring for her ailing father. Her story inspired many, earning her recognition through numerous newspaper articles.
Carolyn’s creativity and compassion also led her to develop and launch her own clothing line, Designs from Heaven, inspired by the memory of her beloved sister. Through this line, Carolyn provided comfortable shoes to many, including nurses at the neonatology unit at Riverside Regional Hospital, touching lives in practical and meaningful ways.
Carolyn’s deep love for her family was evident in everything she did. She was the cherished wife of her beloved husband, Michael Holter, with whom she shared a bond rooted in love and faith. She adored her daughter, Breanna, who was the apple of her eye, her loving stepson, Michael Jr., her treasured spiritual daughter Katina Lumar & her cherished nieces and nephews Walter, Zonta, Kiara, Tevin, Earnest, Ernestine, Sha-Nina, Sharon, and Raheem, all of whom she loved dearly. Carolyn also leaves to cherish her memory her devoted siblings, Julia, Dorothy, Earnest, and George (Yvonne), along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, her church family, and a host of friends.
Carolyn now joins her parents, Samuel and Lucille Haynesworth, and her siblings, Thelma, Stella, Walter, Willie, and Shirley, in glory. While her absence leaves a void in our lives, we rejoice in knowing she is with the Lord, receiving her heavenly reward.
“Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord.” (Matthew 25:23)
