Pastor Samuel Roberson Jr., husband of Mrs. Theresa Roberson, transitioned peacefully Monday, September 2, 2019 at Mary Immaculate Hospital in Newport News, VA.
Newport News – In answer to God’s gentle call, on September 02, 2019, Elder Samuel Roberson, Jr., made his transition from this earthly life to eternal life. His life began in Greenville, North Carolina on June 29, 1955. He was the son of the late Samuel Roberson, Jr. and LeeHelen Roberson. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Michael Roberson and his sister, Deborah A. Grant.
Sam served as the Senior Pastor of Bethesda Community Church, in Newport News, VA, from 2014 until the time of his death. Previously, he was the Assistant Pastor of Holy Tabernacle Church of Deliverance and Pastor of Antioch Church of Deliverance, Newport News, Va. Sam worked as the Facility Trainer at the Family Center of Hope. Sam graduated from Winston-Salem University. Sam served his church, family, co-workers, friends and the community with a servant’s heart.
Sam leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Theresa Roberson; his children: Archisha C. Roberson, Hampton, VA; Alexandria M. Roberson-Jacobson (Francis), Newport News, VA; Alexander L. Roberson, Newport News, VA; Janai Ballow-Cooke (Daniel), Newport News; granddaughter, Moriah M. Roberson; brothers Melvin Robinson (Gaynelle), Greenville, NC; Marvin Roberson (Erma), Greenville, NC; Anthony Roberson (Tenise), Greenville, NC; brother-in-law, John Holmes (Mary), Philadelphia, PA; sister-in-law Mary Holmes (Larry), Hamilton, New Jersey; sister-in-law, Deborah Cook (Jerry), Greensboro, NC; Walker Green (Cassandra), Lenexa, Virginia; and host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, family and friends. His memory will also be cherished by his adopted “sister”, Deacon DeVeda Owens, Newport News, VA; adopted brother, Sheldon Barge, Hamilton, NJ; and, of course, man’s best four-legged friend, Billy. Sam will be greatly missed by his Bethesda family, whom he served with all his heart.
A wake service for Pastor Samuel Roberson Jr., will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday, September 8, 2019 at C.C. Carter Funeral Home, Inc.
Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 9, 2019 at New Hope Baptist Church, 1415 Big Bethel Road Hampton, Virginia by
Rev. Dr. Lawrence Willis.
Interment with military honors will follow at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
