Ms. Mattie Loraine Mack

Ms. Mattie Loraine Mack transitioned on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center, in Williamsburg, Virginia. Mattie Loraine Mack was born on January 28, 1937 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to two loving parents  Leonard and Grace Mack. Mattie was one of 10 children, 4 girls and six boys.   Mattie grew up in North Philadelphia where she was educated in the Phialdelphia Public School system, later moviing to West Philadelphia where she would  raise her daughter Darcel.

Mattie spent all of her adult life working in retail. She worked at Good Lad,  John Wanamaker until its closing, Strawbridges, and  Lord & Taylor where she retired at the age of 62. Mattie was well-known for her sense of style. She loved assisting others in looking their best and was known to many as a “fashionista.”

Mattie was compassionate, strong-willed, independent and was known for speaking her mind.  If you wanted an honest opinion regarding how something looked, just ask Mattie.

After retirement,  Mattie would later move to Virginia with her daughter, son in love, and her grandchildren.  However, she never lost her love for Philadelphia and spoke about it and her Philly family often. One fine summer day while sitting on the deck Mattie accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Personal Savior. 

It is the desire of the Mack family that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
