Ms. Dorothy Mae Rhames

Ms. Dorothy Mae Rhames, of Newport News, Virginia, after a long illness, answered the Master's call peacefully on July 16, 2019. She was born in Wilimington, NC on December 22, 1944 to  the late Alberta Rhames. She was raised in Wilimington NC  and graduated from Willingston High, class of 1963.

Dorothy retired as a domestic engineer for the priest of St Joseph Catholic Church in Hampton VA, for 15 years until her retirement in 2007. Dorothy also worked for The Blue Bird Knit Factory and Hot Shopp Cafeteria. Dot, was preceded in death by her mother Alberta Rhames.

Dorothy was a devoted mother, sister, aunt, and friend.  She was genuinely loved by her family and many friends. She leaves  to cherish her memory and legacy, daughter Niyoka (Nikki) Rhames. Sisters Williene R. Trapp (George), Rosa M Witts (Earl) and Zornetta Martin, two brothers Ira Rhames and Raymond Rhames (Jossette), Nieces Dionne Trapp, Gina Trapp-Allen(Barry) LaVonda Savage, Nakisha Witts, nephew Ira Julius Rhames, devoted friend Tommie Hibbler, Great Aunt Ann Murray and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. 

The family would also like to thank Regency Health & Rehabilitation Center and RAI Care Center Hampton.

A viewing for Ms. Dorothy Mae Rhames will be held from noon until 4:00p.m Sunday, July 21, 2019 at C.C. Carter Funeral Home, Inc. 

Services for Ms. Dorothy  Mae Rhames will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday July 22, 2019 at First Baptist Church Jefferson Park, 615 42nd Street Newport News, VA., by Rev. Dr. Reginald C. Woodhouse.

Interment will follow at Hampton Memorial Gardens
