Mrs. Theresa Moore Obituary

Mrs . Theresa Moore, (also known as Speight and Aunt Speight) 86, was born to the late Les and Ada Speight on November 8, 1931 in Walstonburg, North Carolina.  She entered eternal rest on August 8, 2018 in Newport News, Virginia.

Speight was educated in the Public Schools of Walstonburg, North Carolina and she graduated from Green County Training School.  She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late James Moore, Sr., and to this union three children were born.  The family later relocated to Newark, New Jersey in 1954.  Speight worked and retired from Haywood Plastic Company, where she was a machine operator for over forty years.  She moved to Newport News, Virginia in 2013.

Speight leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter, Sheresa Moore of East Orange, New Jersey; one sister, Anne Ruth Webb of Newport News, Virginia; one close uncle whom she considered a brother, Johnnie Fields (Liddy) of Roselle, New Jersey; two very close cousins, Mary Lou Baker of Stantonsburg, North Carolina; and Linwood Fields (Alice) of Sims, North Carolina; her only niece, Ruth Carol Brooks (Ronald) of Newport News, Virginia; (who were also her caregivers); one nephew, a host of great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews and cousins.  She was proceeded in death by her husband James Moore, Sr., two sons, James (Billy) Moore, Jr. and Jerome Moore.

Speight was a person who said what was on her mind; she was never one to hold her tongue.  If she didn’t like something you said or did she would quickly tell you what she wanted you to know, even if you didn’t want to hear what she had to say.  She was a “fashion diva” and she would not leave the house without her lipstick.  Her hair was her “crowning glory) 1 Corinthians 11:15 (KJV) But if a woman has long hair, it is her glory to her?  For long hair is given to her a covering.  She enjoyed spending time with her great-great nieces and nephews, she was known for sneaking them candy.  Speight would spend hours with her nieces showing them the correct way to polish their nails and put on makeup.  She was also an excellent cook.
