Mrs. Sarah Perry, 79, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2018 at Riverside Regional Medical Center, surrounded by family. She was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Emmett Lewis Perry, Sr on August 16. 1963. She shared a total of 64 years together.
This union was blessed with 4 children.Born March 9, 1939 in Newport News, Virginia, she was the daughter of Thomas and Zolie Smith. She attended Huntington High School. She worked as a care worker with the Newport News Department of Social Services. She was an active member of Living Water Redeemed Apostolic Church of Christ. She created the “Joy Club” where she supported others in need.
She enjoyed yard saling, completing puzzles, watching Western television shows and listening to gospel music.
She leaves to cherish her memory, husband, Emmett Lewis Perry Sr, children, Christopher Lewis Perry (Inga), Frances Delores Perry Usher, Monty Lewis Perry, Johnathen David Allen Perry all of Newport News, VA, grandchildren, Chaneka Perry, Najshea Usher, Kitana Usher, Armone Davis, Christian Holland, Jayla Usher and Micah Holland, great grandchildren, Brian Bond, Briley Bond and Xiomara Holland and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother and father Thomas and Zolie Smith and sisters Emma “Donnie” Fox and Pinkie “Little Mama” Upchurch and nephew Raymond “Tee-Tee” Fox. She will be sadly missed by all that knew and loved her.
The visitation with the family will be held on Wednesday November 8, 2018 at 6:00p.m.-8:00p.m. at Living Waters Redeemed Apostolic Church 617 48th Street Newport News VA 23607.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday November 8, 2018 at 11:00a.m. at Living Waters Redeemed Apostolic Church 617 48th Street Newport News VA 23607.by Elder Eric Jackson
Interment Hampton Memorial Gardens.
