Mrs. Pauline Jones Obituary

Mrs. Pauline Rosa Maxwell Jones, of Newport News, Virginia, after a long illness, answered the Master's call peacefully on October 25, 2018. She was born in Reidsville, NC on August 26, 1933 to the late Walter E. Maxwell and Lizzie Courts Maxwell. She was raised in Newport News, and graduated from G. W. Carver High School, class of 1950.

Pauline worked in the Newport News school system for 26 years until her retirement in 1999. "Mama Jones," as she was affectionately called by her son-in-law, was preceded in death by her husband, Louis H. Jones; son, Haywood E. "Duke" Jones; brothers, Charlie H. Maxwell, Harold Maxwell, Sr. Thomas E. Maxwell, Wesley L. Maxwell and Dr. W. Henry Maxwell; sister, Sadie M. Turner and Shirley D. Satchell; daughter in-law, Kim Jones, brother-in-law, Robert L. Jones and Father and Mother in-law Leon and Pinkie Jones.

Pauline, a devoted, benevolent and compassionate woman, was genuinely loved by her family and many friends. She leaves in God's care to cherish her memory and legacy, two sons; Eric C. Jones of Hampton, Keith E. Jones (Eudora) of Newport News; and one daughter, Tracie L. Lassiter (Ty) of Alexandria; two sisters, Sallie M. Staton of Newport News and Gwendolyn Hawkins (Samuel), of Hampton; two sister in-laws, Naomi Butts Maxwell of Newport News and Carrie Jones of Washington DC; daughter in-law, Pamela Jones of Baltimore; six grandchildren and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Services for Mrs. Pauline Jones will be held 12:00 PM Saturday November 3, 2018 at First Baptist Church Jefferson Park, 615 42nd Street Newport News, VA., by Rev. Dr. Reginald C. Woodhouse.

Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Newport News, VA.

Viewing for Mrs. Pauline Jones will be held from noon- 5:00 PM Friday November 2, 2018 at C.C. Carter Funeral Home, Inc. 3314 Roanoke Ave Newport News, VA.
