Mrs. Patricia Rozella Davis, known to many as “Pat”, was called home to rest on January 8, 2019. Patricia, 60, was born August 31, 1958 to Mary Warren and Howard Simms Sr. in Hampton,
VA. Patricia attended and graduated from Pembroke High School in 1978. In August of 1987, Pat married Phillip Davis Jr. her lifetime partner. In the early 90’s, Pat worked on Langley Air Force base at the Non-Commissioned Officers Club where she was awarded the 1991 General Curtis E. LeMay Award for best MWR. This was the first time someone from Langley had been awarded this award since the awards establishment in 1965.
Patricia, among other things, was a down to earth, straightforward person. When not spending time with her husband and family, she enjoyed listening to her music, watching court TV shows and playing bingo. Patricia was well respected and loved.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Mary Warren and Howard Simms Sr., brothers Howard Simms Jr., Vernon Myers, and grandson DaVonta Simms.
She leaves to cherish her precious and fondest memories, husband Phillip Davis Jr. of Hampton, VA; three children: Mary Holloman (William) of Hampton, VA, Sandy Davis of Hampton, VA and Linwood Davis of Newport News, VA; four step-children: Tiffany Davis Shaw (Cody) of Japan, Phillip Davis III of Hampton, VA, Jerome Jones of Newport News, VA and Tiffany Herbert of Hampton, VA.
Eight grandchildren: LaTasha Simms, Michael Tucker, RaShawn Bryant, Dyamond Bryant, Dyrrell Bryant, Ryhanna Davis-Garrett, Sahniya Davis-Cogdell all of Hampton and Truss Davis of Newport News, VA.
Five sisters: Lavern Holland of Hampton, VA, Crystal Womack (James) of Newport News, VA, Linda Davis of Newport News, VA, Virginia Jones of Stone Mountain, GA, Angela Benson (Barrie) of Hampton, VA; 2 brothers: Jerry Simms (Sheila) of Hampton, VA, David Simms of Hampton, VA; 1 uncle: Walter Simms Sr. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services for Mrs Patricia Davis will be held 11:00a.m. Friday January 18, 2019 at Macedonia Baptist Church 5500 Marshall Ave, Newport News, VA 23605.
Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
A viewing will be held from noon- 5:00p.m. Thursday January 17, 2019 at C.C. Carter funeral Home, Inc. 3314 Roanoke Ave, Newport News, VA 23607.
