Mrs. Gloria Hardy

Mrs. Gloria Hardy  mother of Mr. Claude Hines and the daughter of the late Oliver and Betty Jane Evans entered into eternal rest on September 29, 2018 in Newport News, VA. 

She was born April 29, 1952 in Halifax County, N.C. Gloria received her formal education in Halifax County Public School. She later moved to Virginia in 1968, where she worked several jobs and went on to work 40 years in Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock Co. She was affectionately referred to by her co-workers as "Little Bit". She had a kind sense of humor and was well liked by many people. Gloria "Dean" lived her life to the fullest, gracing everyone with her humor and her love for large family cook-outs. She enjoyed cooking large amounts of food and having friends and family over to enjoy it with her.

Gloria was a loving mother, sister, aunt, sister in-law, and cousin. She will forever be missed.

Gloria is preceded in death by her parents, Betty and Oliver Evans, her sister Delores Carter, Jean Deloatch and brother Leon Evans.

Gloria leaves to cherish her memories 3 sons, Dexter Hardy, Claude Hardy III and Timonthy Hardy.Two step-sons Micheal Pierce and James Pierce, their father Claude Hardy Jr. One sister Daisy Hines (Earl), 1 brother in-law and many sister in-laws. Many nieces and nephews: Pam, Lovella and Katrina Deloatch, Tra'Paris  Lowther, Ti'Misha Deloatch, DaZure Holley, Marcus, Micheal, Wesley Carter, Daryl and Jerome Hines, Timothy, Dunas, Teresa, Jermaine, Shawn, Shane, Buddy, Nash, Shereed, Nise, Marvin, Kwamie, Takiyah, Wayne, Sam, Katie, Shell, Teethia Hardy and Tara Hardy McDonald. A host of great nieces and nephews, cousins and other loved ones and friends. Gloria also leaves to cherish her memories to several dear friends, Alma Crandle, Ebony Pearl and Gwendolyn.

Gloria will be missed dearly and forever be in our hearts.

Services for Mrs. Gloria Hardy will be held 11:00am Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Six Mount Zion Church 3100 Butternut Dr. Hampton, VA. by Dr. Akeem Z. Walker.

Interment will follow at Hampton Memorial Gardens.

Viewing for Mrs. Hardy will be held from noon until 6:00pm on Friday, October 5, 2018 at C.C.Carter Funeral Home, Inc. 3314 Roanoke Ave Newport News, VA.
