Mrs. Dorothy C. Branch

On Thursday, March 1, 2018, God called Dorothy C. Branch home. She was born on August 17, 1931 to the late Della Cook and Thomas Cook in Hampton, VA, where she resided for many years.

Dorothy graduated from Phenix High School in 1948. She then went on to become a dietetic supervisor at Hampton Veteran’s Hospital, where she later retired after 38 years.

Dorothy was a lifelong and faithful member of West End Baptist Church in Hampton, VA, where she served in many ministries. She loved her family, extended family and pastors.She loved good food, music, shopping, as well as spending quality time with her loved ones.

Her bright wonderful smile that would light up a room whenever she entered. She was the most loving and caring person anyone would have the honor to know.  

She is preceded in death by her parents, Della Cook and Thomas Cook, her husband, Charles Branch Jr., her sisters Ethel Stephens, Sarah Cooke, Mary Hill and Thelma Stowes, and brother, Thomas Cook and two grandsons Charley Freeman and Richard Roberts.  

She leaves to cherish her memories; her brother Frederick Cook, her children Linda Roberts (Richard Roberts), Charles Branch III (Doris Branch), Ellen Robinson (Abdur Rahim Robinson), Sharon Lowther (Stephen Lowther) and Earl Sargent (Alesia Sargent). She also leaves to cherish her memories; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-two greatgrandchildren and eleven great-great grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. 

A funeral service will be held 11:00a.m. Wednesday March 7, 2018  at West End Baptist Church in Hampton, VA  

A viewing for Mrs. Branch will be held on Tuesday March 6, 2018 from 12pm-5pm. at C.C. Carter’s Funeral Home, Inc. 3314 Roanoke Ave Newport News, VA 23607 

Interment will follow at Hampton National Cemetery.
