Betty Veronica McGill was peacefully called home into the arms of her Lord and Savior on September 17, 2019. Betty was born in Hampton, Virginia on June 5, 1946 to Archie Graham Sr. and Stacie Maerose (Chapman) Graham.
Betty was educated in the Hampton City Public Schools and graduated from Phenix High School in 1964. Shortly after graduating high school, Betty moved to Washington, DC where she started her career path of the greatest Secretary/Executive Assistant with the US Government State Department and from there serving in various positions within the United States Government and other private companies and organizations.
In 1970 Betty was joined in holy matrimony to David L. McGill Sr. (divorced) and from this union two children were born.
Betty enjoyed life to the fullest. She always strived to be the best and make the best of any situation and to see the best in people. Her greatest joys in life were her children and her grandchildren who affectionately called her “G.G.” (Gorgeous Grannie). She also loved spending good times with her family and friends over the years. Some of those dear to her outside of her family are Marion, Blanche, Carol, Linda, Larry and Gladys. She loved her James Brown, loved to laugh, loved to just chill and watch her westerns/cowboys, Kojak, and NCIS Los Angeles. Her favorite saying was “If you want something done right do it yourself.” Her greatest love was worshipping God and pulling her strength from his word.
Betty is survived by her two children, Andrea McGill-Pryor (Albert nicknamed Sonny) and David McGill Jr. (Monica). Grandchildren include Alicia Pryor (her favorite future grandson-in-law Thomas), Bryant Henson, Alonzo Pryor, Damarcco McGill. Great -Granddaughter Raegan Henson. She is survived by her sisters and brother Annette Graham, Carolyn Rice, Fannie Taylor (Leon), Archie Graham Jr. (Diane), Fredricka Graham, and Audrey Miller (Bobby). She is also survived by a host of many nieces and nephews and cousins.
Those who predeceased her are her parents Archie Graham Sr. and Stacie Maerose (Chapman) Graham. Her sister Asie Lee Graham. Her brother-in-law Tie Rice.
You will always be deeply loved and missed Betty, "Ma", "G.G."
