Mrs. Altheria Denise Scott

Altheria Denise Scott was born December 8, 1952 in Newport News, VA to the late Moses and Gladys Titus. She was educated in Newport News Public Schools and graduated from Huntington High School in 1971. After graduation she later moved to Washington, DC where she met and married John P. Scott. She began a career with National Institute of Health (N.I.H) as a quality control engineer, than later became facility management assistant where she retired after 35 years of service with the federal government. During a career with N.I.H Altheria enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1979 where she served 21 years, during which she fought in the Gulf/Desert Storm War.

She departed this life on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at approximately 5pm. She is survived by her loving daughters Alexandria Y Scott- Billups (Alex) and Amanda Y Scott.  Four grandchildren Xavier Scott, Korey & Justin Billups and Eric Williams Jr. One Brother Bobby Titus (Newport News, VA). Five Sisters Maryann Peppers-Porter, Rosalind Titus (Newport News, VA); Connie Robinson (Landover, MD); Linda Daye (Conway, NC) and Yvonne Ali (Manassas, VA), and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her brother Stanley Titus. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Viewing for Mrs. Altheria Denise Scott will be held from noon until 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at C.C. Carter Funeral Home, Inc.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at New Hope Baptist Church, 1415 Big Bethel Road, Hampton, Virginia by Dr. Christopher C. Carter, Sr.

A repast will immediately follow the funeral service at New Hope Baptist Church.

Interment with military honors will be held at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
