Mr. Joseph M. Jones Sr, father of Mr. Joseph M. Jones Jr., transitioned on Monday, November 12, 2018 at Mt. Vernon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Alexandria, VA.

Mr. Joseph Matthew Jones (Senior) was the first born to Joseph and Estelle (Smith) Jones. Two other male children soon followed Joseph's birth. James Robert and Willie Preston Jones. Joseph married Mary Elizabeth Massenburg. Together they had two sons, Joseph Matthew Jones Jr. and Sherman Henry Jones.

Joseph M. Jones is survived by Joseph M. Jr. who is married to Sarah M. Jones, Sherman and Linda Jones, one daughter Ms. Doris Jones, granddaughters Ebony Jones, Stephanie Jones, Jessica Jones, Joseph M. Jones III (grandson), Tabitha Jackson, Kayla Farah, Mason Jones (great grandchildren).

Dad wanted nothing more than for his family and for all men to love the Lord Jesus Christ and to come to know him as their personal Saviour. Without receiving any credit, he and his eldest son Joseph M. Jr. prayed for about 300 people for seven years thoughtout Hampton and Newport News. Often he witnessed sudden, supernatural intervention by the Lord on behalf of those who were ill. God blessed him to live for 99 years. He would be 100 years old should he have lived to see St. Patrick's Day (March 17, 2019). Dad lost his final battle with illness. However, although he was quite ill, God allowed him to face the end of his life without pain. For that we are thankful.

So today we celebrate a life lived well, full of love and commitment to our Saviour. He refused to leave our mother's side until she came to the very end of her days on August 1, 1998. We will forever love them both and celebrate their arrival in Heaven. We will all rejoice together again some day.

Services for Mr. Joseph Jones will be held at 11:00am on Monday, November 19, 2018 at C.C .Carter Funeral Home,Inc. by Dr. Christopher C. Carter Sr.

Interment will follow at Hampton Memorial Gardens.
