Mr. James H. Allen Jr.,

Mr. James H Allen Jr., departed this earthly realm on March 24, 2018.  James was born on February 24, 1927, in Hampton, VA to the Late Willa Mae  & James Allen Sr.  

He graduated from Phoenix High School, and proudly served his country by enlisting in the United States Army. James was employed at Langley AFB for 36 yrs. Lastly he was employed with Montgomery Ward until his retirement. 

James,  was a dedicated and faithful member of First Baptist Church of Hampton, in Hampton, Va. He  loved worshipping the Lord in song as a dedicated and longstanding member of FBCH's Men's Choir.  James continued lifting our Lord up in praise and ministering to the bereft by singing in the Comfort Choir.

He sang in both choirs for over three decades and was an active member of FBCH until ill health prevented his attendance.

Anyone who knew James knew he was an avid and loyal Washington Redskins Fan to the end. Win or lose he never wavered in his support of the team.

James was preceded in death by his parents and his sibling Emma Charity.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years , Shelia  L. Wallace . Through this and a previous union, James was blessed with one daughter, Patricia Ganther and five sons, Michael Allen(decd), Andre Wallace, Walter Wallace decd (Sophia), James Allen III( Victoria), Dwayne Allen. James was further blessed with 12 grandchildren, Tarik, Patrick, Alexandra, Brandon, Jessica, Antoinette, Brian Sr., Michael Sr., Melia, Dwayne, Andrea, Juwan and 9 great-grandchildren , Brian Jr., Nayla, Amari, Alex, Travis Jr., Damir, Brandon, Michael Jr., & Brandon Jr.

James truly loved the Lord, his wife, and family. He also leaves his extended family, his brother-in-law, Cornell Sapp , sister-in-law, Marlene  Wallace, nieces, Stephanie Wallace, Diane Sapp, Debra Sapp, Cynthia Sapp, and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Homegoing services will be held on March 31, 2018. 12 p.m.  at First Baptist Church of Hampton 229 North King Street Hampton, VA 23669 . by Dr. Joan Parrot.

Interment with Military Honors will follow at Hampton Memorial Gardens. 

The viewing for Mr. Allen  will be on March 30, 2018. 12 p.m - 6 p.m  at C. C. Carter Funeral Home Inc.3314 Roanoke Ave Newport News VA 23607
