Henry Lee Marshall Sr., entered into enteral rest on Saturday August 24, 2019 at his home in Hampton, Virginia. Henry was born in Bristol, Tennessee on June 29, 1944 to late Eddie Marshall Sr. and Sarah Marshall.
When the family moved to Newport News, Virginia, Henry attended Newport News Public Schools, graduating from Carver High School Class of 1962. After graduation his love for music, allowed him to be in a band with his brothers, “Bob Marshall and The Crystals”. After the band, he pursued other endeavors, leading him to move to New York. While in New York, he excelled in being a radio personality and DJ for 19 years. Upon moving back to Newport News, Virginia in later years, he met and married his loving and devoted wife Ellen Carney-Marshall of 32 years.
Henry was employed with Alcoa Howmet for 31 years, specializing in the investment casting of primarily for jet aircrafts and industrial gas turbine engine components, which he retired from in 2001. He then worked at Riverside Pace as a driver; with the enjoyment of working with senior’s he continued this work for 5 years.
Henry was a sports enthusiast and had a tremendous love for football especially, Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. He also loved baseball with the New York Yankees being his favorite team. He enjoyed and had a passion for his yard, and landscaping. Henry spent many hours in caring and manicuring his yard planting an array of beautiful flowers.
Henry Lee Marshall Sr. is proceeded in death by his parents Eddie Marshall Sr. and Sarah Marshall, three brothers Robert, Johnny, Willie Marshall and his only sister Lillie Cleveland. He leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted loving wife Ellen Carney-Marshall, his children; Henry L. Marshall Jr. (Fanny Marshall), Jesse O. Marshall, Jackie Sargent, TaKisha A. Marshall-Dlugos (Aaron Dlugos), Rashanda L. Marshall, Erica Marshall, Tyrell Marshall, and a very special grandson he raised Marquise A. Sargent (Barbara Sargent). His brothers Eddie Jr, Charles (Phyliss Marshall), and Jesse (Marie Marshall). Also a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and four sister in laws and three brother in laws.
A viewing for Mr. Henry Lee Marshall, Sr., will be held from noon until 6:00 p.m. Friday, August 30, 2019 at C.C. Carter Funeral Home, Inc.
Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 31, 2019 at St. Paul AME 2500, Chestnut Ave, Newport News, Virginia 23607 by Rev. Dr. Oretha P. Cross.
Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
