Mr. Ernest Darnell Obituary

One of God’s faithful servants, Mr. Ernest Eugene Darnell was the son of the late Buster Whorley and Elizabeth Powell Darnell. He was born in Roberson County, North Carolina on February 7, 1950 and departed this life on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at his beloved home.

At an early age, Ernest committed himself to Christ and joined Sandy Grove Baptist Church in Lumberton, North Carolina. Later he served his country in the United States Air Force in the states as well as overseas. After Ernest relocated to Newport News, Virginia, Ernest went on to work at the Newport News Shipyard which he retired from.
Mr. Darnell loved life, nature and to watch it grow.

He was creative, colorful, and everything he touched reflected the beauty within it. God knew the load was heavy and the hill was hard to climb so he closed his eyes gently and whispered “Peace be thine”.

Cherishing beautiful memories are his daughters Veronica Darnell, Michelle Darnell and LaRhonda Darnell; son Ernest Darnell; brothers Eugene Powell (Barbara), Donald Earl Darnell (Nancy), and David Gerrel Darnell (Patricia); aunt Catherine Powell and a host of cousins, nephews, two grandchildren and friends.

Services with military honors for Mr. Ernest Darnell will be held 11:00a.m. Saturday, December 8, 2018 at C.C. Carter Funeral Home 3314 Roanoke Ave., Newport News, VA. 23607.
