Mr. Calvert C. Jones

Mr. Calvert Clemmons Jones answered the Master’s call Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at Riverside Regional Medical Center.  He was born July 12, 1954 to the late James Hilliard Jones and the late Johnie Mae Jones. 

Calvert attended public school in Newport News, Va. and matriculated to St. Albans College Preparatory School in Washington, D.C., which he graduated President of the Class of 1972.  He later attended Duke University in Durham, N.C.  Calvert returned to Newport News, where he was employed by the Newport News Shipyard and various other employments. 

He was preceded in death by a brother, James Mitchell James. 

Calvert is survived by two sisters Lola Jeanette Jones of  Hampton, and Thelma “Jackie” Harris(Herbert) of Hampton; four brothers, William “Bill”(Virginia) of Charlotte, N.C., Earl Wayne(Cheryl) of McLean, Va., Johnny F. “Bucky”(Donna) and Russell D. “Rusty” of N.N.; one uncle, Rev.  Thurba W. Jones(Sadie Bea) of Newport News; a host of nieces and nephews, who he enjoyed mentoring and was so proud of all their accomplishments; and a host of cousins and lifelong friends whom he cherished.

A celebration of his life will be held at 1:00p.m. Monday, March 5, 2018 at New Hope Baptist Church 1415 Big Bethel Road Hampton, Va.,by  Dr,  Christopher C. Carter, Sr.  

Interment will be private.

Viewing for Mr. Jones will be held two hours prior to service.
