On, Saturday, February 17, 2018, God called his humble servant, Missionary Dorothy Sue Taylor from earthly labor to her heavenly reward. She was born on July 9, 1956 in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Richard O. Taylor and Emma Loretta Williams-Taylor. She was educated in Newport News Public School systems. She retired from Newport News Shipbuilding and worked for Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) as a Prayer Counselor.
Dorothy was a faithful member of St. Johns Church of God in Christ, Newport News, VA, for over 30 years, where she faithfully served under the leadership of the late Bishop Samuel L. Green, Jr. and her current Pastor, Elder Samuel L. Green, III.
She loved her family, extended family, church and pastor. She worked in several areas of ministry to include: Treasurer, Virginia Second Jurisdiction State Choir; President of Faith for Living (FFL) Mailing Ministry, Co-Captain of FFL 120 Club, “Fishers of Men; Prayer Counselors for Faith for Living Richer Life Television Ministry; and presently served in St. Johns Mass Choir.
She is preceded in death by her parent, the late Richard O. Taylor and Emma Loretta Williams-Taylor. Daughter, LaVonda Rochelle Taylor; and brother, Richard O. Taylor. She leaves to cherish her memories: her sister Patrice Taylor-Covington (Leander); nephew, Paul Taylor; and God daughter, Anisa Best; God son, Preston Jacobs.
Services for Missionary Dorothy Sue Taylor will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 22, 2018 at St. Johns COGIC 2402 Orcutt Ave. Newport News, VA. by Elder Samuel Green III.
Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Viewing will be held from noon until 5:00p.m. Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at C.C.Carter Funeral Home Inc.
