Deacon Carl Wiley Obituary

Deacon Carl Cephus Wiley was born April 6. 1944 in Caswell County, NC to Willie Wiley and Margaret Wiley, who were thankful fot the son God entrusted to be in their care.

Carl received his formal education in the Alamace County School System and is a graduate of Central High School in Graham, North Carolina. He worked for General Electric in Mebane, North Carolina. He was married to the former Ruth Holman of Mebane, NC and is the father of one daughter, Saletha Lynn. After leaving General Electric he worked at Newport News Ship Building now (Huntington Ingalls) in Newport News, VA for 27 years. He was a caring, helpful person and always greeted everyone with a smile.

Carl was born again in faith and loved to worship and praise his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He joined New Mount Olive Baptist Church on August 1, 1991. Carl was an active member of the Male Chorus and has served as Chaplin of the Missionary Ministry. He is a graduate of the Evangelism Class and took every opportunity to share the love of Christ with others. On May 30, 1993, Carl Wiley was ordained to the Deacon Board of New Mount Olive Baptist Church.

Deacon Wiley was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Wiley and Margaret W. Wade; his brother Lewis Wiley and sister Peggy Bell. He leaves to charish fond memories his wife of 55 years, Deaconess Ruth Wiley; daughter, Saletha Wiley of Hampton, VA; two brothers Bobby Wiley of Burlington, NC and John Wiley of Uppermarboro, ND; sister Shirley Henderson of Chicago, IL; brothers-in-law Phil Holman (Mary Ann) of Mebane, NC, Wallace Holman, Sr. (Geneva) of Atlanta, GA, Elzard Holman (Charlene) of Yancyville, NC, John Holman of Chapel Hill, NC and Joseph Holman of Mebane, NC, future son-in-law, Tony Thomas and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

 

 

 

 

Viewing for Deacon Wiley, will be held from noon until 5:00p.m. Friday, June 8, 2019 at C. C. Carter Funeral Home, Inc. 

 

Services for Deacon Wiley will be held 11:00a.m. Saturday, June 9, 2019 at New Mount Olive Baptist Church 66 Big Bethel Rd. Hampton, VA. By Dr. Randolph W. Rylander.  

 

Entombment will follow at Hampton Memorial Gardens.
