Mrs. Evelyn Sherin

Mrs. Evelyn Lee Sherin peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 15, 2024 at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Virginia at the age of 95 years old.

Evelyn was born February 28, 1929 in Enfield, NC to the late Willie and Goldlee Whitaker. She was educated in North Carolina Public Schools. She was a dedicated hard worker, as she worked for Riverside Hospital for over 35 years before retiring. Evelyn had a passion for music, dancing, singing, taking car rides, and her all-time favorite going to the casino. She was known for her warm and comforting spirit, her soft tender voice, and smooth dance moves as her presence filled any room she entered with joy. 

Evelyn is preceded in death by her late husband for over 50 years, Rudolph Sherin; her parents, Willie and Goldlee Whitaker; daughter Margie Langford; four sons, Jonnie Mack Lewis, Donald Ray Lewis, Kenny Lewis, and Ebby Lewis; one granddaughter, Tahtisha Cummings; and one grandson Lamont Lewis. 

She leaves to cherish and celebrate her loving memories, her son, Vinson Lewis; eleven grandchildren, Floyd Langford (Carla), Sherry Carmichael (David), Davon Evans, Monica Wilkerson, Edward Lewis Jr., Kamon Lewis, Jonnie Lewis, Ebony Henderson, Jermiah Hardy, Channon Gould, and Teresa Hardy; twenty-six great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.  

It is the desire of the Sherin  family that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

The family of Mrs. Evelyn Sherin  has entrusted her final care to C. C. Carter Funeral Home, Inc.
